Europe is Female 2024: Together for equal rights
Europe is Female² ist ein Empowerment-Projekt mit jungen Frauen* aus Deutschland, Portugal, Slowenien und Rumänien
To this day, women remain unequal in European societies. Furthermore, women are still underrepresented in many places. Whether in politics, science or in management positions in companies – there is still a lot to be done to create real equality. In addition, women and their achievements and challenges often remain hidden from the general public.
This is exactly where Europe is Female comes in: We want to create a safer space where a group of young women come together to learn and create artwork in the context of their personal experiences. They share their personal stories and make them visible to a new, wider audience – making their stories and voices heard.
Europe is Female² is an empowerment project that supports a group of young women* from Germany, Portugal, Slovenia and Romania in expressing and presenting their individual perspectives and experiences in relation to equal rights, participation and the visibility of women in society.
Over the course of three workshop weeks, the participants create their own works of art and intensively explore their own ideas, wishes and experiences. The workshops are accompanied by local artists. Particular emphasis is placed on trying out a variety of different art forms and giving free play to their own creativity. Participants also learn more about the topics of participation, feminism and equality. Their own thematic wishes and interests guide all workshops and ensure that everyone can actively participate. In addition to the content-related and creative parts, it is also about getting to know the other European women better, exploring local specialities and standing up together for more equality in Europe. In a concluding workshop week in Berlin, the results of all the workshops will be compiled and exhibited at a vernissage. This will be organised and designed entirely by the participants and thus represent the experiences and thoughts of the group.
The aim of the project is to empower young women and give them a space to share their own ideas, wishes and concerns with others and transform them into works of art. Challenges are made visible to other people and can thus contribute to further strengthening equal rights and participation throughout Europe.
