Panel on Post-war reconstruction of Ukraine

Shaping Change Together

As part of the OBMIN – Shaping Change Together seminar, which brings together activists and civilians from Ukraine from 26-30 October, we are organising a panel discussion on 28.10.2024 from 18:00 – 19:30 followed by a reception together with our partner organisations from Ukraine. We would like to cordially invite not only our participants and the Ukrainian community in Berlin to this exchange, but also the interested public.

Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction presents urgent challenges, from rebuilding infrastructure to addressing political and social divides. This panel brings together experts to explore how the international community, the Ukrainian diaspora, and civil society can support Ukraine’s recovery in ways that ensure sustainability and resilience.

Key topics include the role of the diaspora in mobilizing resources and expertise, the challenges posed by rising war-driven Euroscepticism, and how international partnerships can strengthen Ukraine’s path toward European integration. The panel will also examine how to balance the urgent demands of reconstruction with sustainable development goals, fostering a recovery that is transparent, equitable, and future-focused.

• Andriy Garbuza, Head of Secretariat of the German Platform for the Reconstruction of Ukraine at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)
• Konstiantyn Fedorenko, PhD candidate in social and political sciences at the Centre for Eastern European and International Studies
• Laura Christoph, project manager and research assistant in the projects ‘UA Transformation Lab’ and ‘Ukraine Perspectives’ at the Institute for European Politics
